Buses or 12-15 passenger vans will depart from downtown Riverside at 10 am and will return to Riverside between 6 pm 7 pm, depending on tour location. Cost is $28 per person whether you ride the bus or join us at the venue. Each bus or van will be accompanied by an art historian who will brief you on your destination. Tours are not recommended for children under 10.
Tour 1 - J. Paul Getty Museum Getty Center
Arrive at 12 noon. Bus/van departs at 5 pm.
Upon arrival, you will be greeted by Getty Center curatorial staff who will present an overview of the collections and specialized tours. There will be plenty of time to tour the galleries and gardens on your own, or you may take advantage of the docent tours of the Getty collections, architecture and gardens. Lunch is on your own at one of the Getty dining facilities that range from fine dining at $25-$35/pp to casual outdoor coffee and food carts for $5-$7/pp.
Special Exhibitions: The American Tradition & Walker Evans: Photographs from the Getty Collection;
Recent Acquisition: Monet, "The Portal of Rouen Cathedral in Morning Light." 1894.
Tour 2 Los Angeles County Museum of Art
Arrive 11:30 am. Bus/van departs at 5 pm.
You will be greeted by fellow alumnus Rene Montgomery (78, MA), Assistant Director of Collections at LACMA, who will provide a special orientation to the exhibitions. Participants will have time to tour the museum on their own, as well as explore three other museums within walking distance: the Craft and Folk Art Museum, the Page Museum of National History and La Brea Tar Pits, and the Petersen Automotive Museum. Lunch is on your own at either the LACMAs Pentimento Restaurant or Marie Calendars Restaurant adjacent to the Page Museum (both approximately $15-$20/pp).

Tour 3 Long Beach Museum of Art and Museum of Latin American Art
Arrive 11:30 am at Museum of Latin American Art (Long Beach). Bus/van departs from Long Beach Museum of Art
at 5:30 pm.
You will be greeted with a special orientation to the exhibitions by museum curatorial staff. Participants will have time to tour the museums long-term exhibition: Latin American Artists: A Contemporary Journey, as well as other temporary exhibitions and the museums outstanding gift shop. Lunch will be on your own at !Viva!, the on-site restaurant featuring entrees from all of South America and the Caribbean (approximately $15/pp).
You will arrive at the Long Beach Museum of Art at 3 pm, where you will be greeted by museum staff for an orientation to the current exhibition and permanent collection. The Long Beach Museum of Art is a designated historical landmark built in 1912 and located on a magnificent bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Long Beach Harbor. Of special interest are the LBMOA collection of works by Jawlensky and those of California Modernists.
Tour 4 Contemporary Art in Downtown Los Angeles
Arrive 11:30 am at location to be announced. Bus/van departs at 5 pm
The tour will commence at Union Station and make its way to the MTA building. From there we will take the Red Line to Pershing Square where you will be able to enjoy the architecture of the Biltmore Hotel. We'll make a lunch stop (approximately $7 - $10/pp) to explore the Grand Central Market, one of the oldest markets in the United States. Then the group will move on to visit the Judd Fine Gardens and finally conclude with a docent-led tour of the Museum of Contemporary Art and Geffen Contemporary featuring special exhibitions of works by David Hockney and Doug Gordon, among others.
